AWSDC Brings Urgent Relief to Earthquake-Affected Families in Kunar

Kunar Province – November 14, 2025
Hundreds of families still struggling in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck eastern Afghanistan received a vital lifeline today as AWSDC distributed 200 food packages to displaced people in Chawkai and Noorgal districts of Kunar province. The aid reached two IDP camps that have become temporary homes for many survivors:

Zorl Camp in Chawkai district

Zerlai Baba Camp in Noorgal district

Each food package contained essential items designed to support families for several weeks, including 100 kilos Wheat Flour, rice, cooking oil, beans, and Salt. This emergency response was fully funded by ICAN (International Civil Society Action Network) in partnership with AWSDC’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters.

“Many families here lost everything in the earthquakes – their loved ones, their homes, their livestock, their sense of security,” said the AWSDC field Officer at the distribution.

“Today, seeing the relief on people’s faces when they received these packages reminds us why this work matters. ”The distribution was carried out smoothly and transparently, with local elders and camp representatives and Kunar Directorate of Economy helping ensure the most vulnerable – widows, large families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities – were prioritized. We thank ICAN for their generous and timely support that made this assistance possible. AWSDC remains committed to standing with the people of Kunar during this difficult time and continues to assess further needs in earthquake-affected areas.
