The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) started the project titled Improving Livelihood of the vulnerable people in Paktia province funded by ICAN. This project, which is implementing in coordination with the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture, will cover 650 families over the course of two years.

Clean water helps keep kids in school, especially girls.

The project will provide gardening, dairy processing, beekeeping and distribution of improved seed packages to 100 farmers in Paktya province. Under the project, 275 women head of the families will receive cash assistance packages and 275 families will receive food assistance packages based on the standards of the food security cluster.

The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) in continue humanitarian work and improve livelihood services in Afghanistan, this time implementing the Improving Economic Livelihoods of Vulnerable Families in Faryab Province.

span 17 months, will cover 554 families, including 2,077 men and 1,803 women and children.

The services provided to the people through the project includes the rehabilitation of 10 wells of safe drinking water, which will provide clean and healthy drinking water to 1,500 people. 50 female family heads to be thought professional skills such as sewing and poultry. Three small irrigation networks have also been restored enabling 40 young people to have the opportunity of income through Cash for Work program. 30 people will be taught economic issues such as how to economically empower the people and how to access safe drinking water

The International Gender Equality Prize was awarded to the Afghan Women Skills Development Center, which works to promote and protect the rights of women in Afghanistan. The organization does important humanitarian work to promote the safety of Afghan women.

Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo presented the EUR 300,000 Prize to the organisation’s representative Mahbouba Seraj in Tampere on 11 December 2023.
